Municipal Tech Notes is a personal website operated by Ryan Bertram. This policy explains what information may be processed when you visit the site or contact me.

Information handled by this site

How information is used

Information is used to operate and secure the site, understand aggregate readership and performance, respond to messages, diagnose problems, and improve published material. I do not sell personal information submitted through this site.

Email newsletter

Newsletter signup is currently enabled.

When you subscribe, your email address and the fixed site signup tag are sent directly to Buttondown for subscription management and delivery. Municipal Tech Notes does not receive or store the form submission first. Buttondown processes that information under its privacy policy.

Every newsletter provides an unsubscribe option. You may also email hello@municipaltech.net to ask about deletion of a subscription record.

Advertising

Display advertising is currently disabled. No Google advertising code is loaded.

If Google AdSense is enabled in the future, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies, local storage, device identifiers, and activity information to deliver, measure, and personalize ads where permitted. Required consent messaging will be enabled before ads are shown in regions where consent is required. You can learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services inGoogle's privacy guidanceand manage ad personalization inGoogle Ads Settings.

Service providers and external links

Cloudflare provides hosting, security, and analytics. Google will provide advertising only if advertising is enabled. Buttondown provides newsletter subscription management and delivery. These providers process information under their own policies, including theCloudflare Privacy Policy. Articles may link to other websites; their privacy practices are outside my control.

Retention and your choices

Cloudflare retains service data according to its settings and policies. Email correspondence is kept only as long as it remains useful for the conversation or an operational need. Your theme preference remains in your browser until you change it or clear site data.

You can block or clear browser storage, use browser privacy controls, and avoid sending optional information by email. To ask about, correct, or request deletion of information you sent directly, email hello@municipaltech.net.

Children's privacy

This general-audience technology site is not directed to children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Policy changes

This policy may change when the site's services or practices change. The effective date at the top will be updated when that happens.
